Refined Minimalism

For a family in Thessaloniki, I had the opportunity to design the interior of their luxury home. The initial brief resembled the typical sleek white plastered villas often seen in sunny locations, but I wanted to create something entirely different. With the exterior design established, I focused on shaping the interior, starting with the living room, kitchen and entrance.

In this project, the open living area, kitchen and structural elements were treated as a single cohesive whole. There are no unnecessary additions or decorative details, only carefully integrated elements that define the space and its character. The staircase acts as a spatial anchor, organizing the floor plan while keeping sightlines open. Functions flow seamlessly into each other, creating a sense of clarity, balance and calm throughout the interior.

The material palette combines marble, concrete and refined wooden accents. Neutral surfaces and subtle color choices allow the marble to take center stage, while the mix of hard and warm materials creates a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere. Lighting is understated and intentionally integrated, with sculptural pendant lights in the kitchen and subtle light lines in walls and ceilings enhancing the space. This project demonstrates how interior and architecture can work together in harmony. Every detail is considered, every element intentional, resulting in a home that is calm, cohesive and timeless.

Maximizing Space with Modern Design

The staircase is the first element you notice upon entering the home. Straight ahead, the space opens toward the powder room and seamlessly leads into the living area. By designing the underside as a planter, a subtle visual separation is created while introducing greenery in a refined, integrated way without the need for additional decorative objects.

The industrial concrete structure is sharply defined and paired with a sleek glass balustrade, while the interior side features a wooden screen that continues upward, creating a sense of continuity. Each step incorporates subtle LED lighting, and the entire staircase is set against a warm wooden slat feature that also extends behind the TV unit.

By repeating materials in different areas, the design achieves a sense of calm and cohesion, while softening the inherent coldness of the harder elements. The result is a staircase that functions as both a striking architectural centerpiece and an integral, harmonious part of the interior.

The Heart of the Home

The kitchen is designed as a fully integrated cabinet system with ample storage, keeping the living area clean and uncluttered while creating a calm, functional space. Dark wood combined with the deep tones of the marble countertop is balanced by the warm veining of the marble, adding subtle texture and richness. Lighter wood accents are reintroduced in select areas, enhancing visual harmony and continuity throughout the interior. Part of the kitchen features a display section for wine and tableware, combining practicality with refined elegance.
